With a film like Watchmen most of the people who will be rushing to see it in theaters will be fans of the comic book and trade paper back. I have been a long time comic book fan but one book I have never had the chance to read is in fact Watchmen. I have read some reviews before approaching my own and most of them will point out differences between the comic and the film. Well I went in completely brand new to the world created by Alan Moore with nothing more but clips and trailers to go on. So my opinion of this film has nothing to do with whether he followed the book to the word but rather whether it is entertaining or not.. In the end shouldn't that really be all that matters?
Watchmen takes place in an alternate world in 1985 when Richard Nixon is president and the cold war is upon us. This is the real world as if super human beings roamed the globe. One of those heroes in his old age is killed. Rorschach, Nite Owl, Silk Spectre and Dr. Manhattan all are thrust into a huge mystery of who killed their fellow friend. The other, Ozymandias, is too busy trying to create a new energy source to bring global peace to help them figure out who is behind the killings. One by one murders of old masked heroes begins to build up and the mystery continues. Will they discover who is behind the murders? Will the world end before the figure it all out by a Nuclear war?

Snyder of course however has a very visionary style that I'm not sure was totally correct for Watchmen. Dr. Manhattan for example was almost always completely created with CGI effects and in certain parts of the film did not look very convincing. I also think the choice to show him nude so much in the film was a bit much. It wasn't necessary for the film and I think he was trying a little too hard to fit in with the book.
Which brings me to my next point....
